About the Member
My journey into the world of hospitality began with a simple desire—to make people feel at home, no matter where in the world they came from. Over time, that desire evolved into a deep passion for service excellence, storytelling, and the magic of unforgettable guest experiences. That passion led me to the concierge desk, and eventually, to something I consider a badge of honour—becoming a member of Les Clefs d’Or Singapore.
Joining this prestigious society wasn’t just about donning the golden keys on my lapel. It was about becoming part of a brotherhood and sisterhood of like-minded professionals, all committed to raising the bar of hospitality. I still remember the moment I received my keys—equal parts pride, gratitude, and a silent promise to uphold the high standards that come with them.
As an Assistant Public Relations Officer of the Singapore chapter, I now have the privilege to tell our stories, showcase our contributions, and help the world see what makes Les Clefs d’Or not just an association—but a lifelong journey of learning, connection, and service.
Do you have any insider secrets or hidden gems in the area that you love recommending to guests?
If you want to taste a true cross-section of Singaporean food, Old Airport Road Food Centre is an absolute must. While not as famous as some of the newer, more touristy spots, it’s beloved by locals for its wide variety of delicious and affordable dishes. This iconic hawker centre has been around for decades, and its reputation for serving high-quality, traditional local food is unmatched.
A Fun Fact About Singapore
Singapore’s national anthem, Majulah Singapura, is printed in microtext on the back of its $1,000 currency note! You’d need a magnifying glass to see it clearly, but it’s there—written in microprint as a symbol of national pride.
It’s a great conversation starter and a fun little “Easter egg” about Singapore’s attention to detail, even on its currency!
A Must-Visit Place You Feel No Visitor Should Miss
Joo Chiat is one of Singapore’s most unique neighbourhoods—a lively blend of old-world charm and modern flair. Known for its beautifully preserved Peranakan shophouses with pastel facades and ornate tiles, walking through the area feels like stepping into a living postcard.
But there’s more than just beauty. Joo Chiat is a hidden cultural hub, full of independent cafés, artisanal bakeries, antique stores, and authentic eateries. Guests can sample traditional Katong laksa, try Nonya kuehs at local bakeries, or sip a flat white in a café housed in a heritage building.
